Network Marketing – You Can Not Make Excuses Forever

Like it or not, we all do it. We know something needs to be done but there always seems to be a well thought out reason why it is more beneficial (or perhaps less painful), then actually doing it.

“I’ll get to that one day…”, I could never do that…”, “I am too old for that now…”, “I know I should have done it but…”.

Excuses are something we make for the avoidance of doing something we would rather not do or would “prefer to defer” until circumstances present themselves in a more favourable light – which unfortunately may never occur.

Network Marketing is perhaps the industry with the most reasons for not getting something done. There always seems to be a positive reason for holding off on making a start. This is where the idea of the dream or the goal comes into play. We are encouraged to dream big, big enough so that we have a powerful reason not to make excuses.

In life we tend to get the things we focus on the most so goal setting is a powerful way to prevent procrastination. When we really want to achieve something in life we work hard to attain it. Our actions and belief show our passion for it.

5 Key steps to stop making excuses today:

  1. Take responsibility – When we begin being responsible for our own actions we stop making excuses for why we didn’t get something done.
  2. Believe in yourself – Move a little beyond your limits. We often make the “I can’t” excuse without first attempting to do what we assumed we couldn’t do in the first place. By saying we can’t do something we are admitting failure by way of making excuses.
  3. Develop new friendships – Often in Network Marketing we find ourselves at the bottom of our list without having reached our desired goals. In many cases we make excuses for not contacting people by saying our list is empty or we have no one else to contact. With the Internet and today’s communication options, especially Social Networking sites, we can easily make new friends and continually add to a never ending list. International options for list building are also greatly increased.
  4. Learn from Failure – Failure is common in Network Marketing but that is no reason to use the “give up” excuse. When things go wrong, explore what went wrong, learn from it and move on. Winners learn from their mistakes, losers make excuses.
  5. Develop determination – Be determined to win. When your goals are big enough and your determination strong enough, excuses don’t have a chance to be part of the picture. We just continue doing and moving forward towards our goals.
